Plastic Sheaves in the Wire Industry

Timco plastic sheaves are used in wire industry for the following reasons:

Light weight makes it easier for small diameter wire to turn idler sheaves with minimum scuffing.
Wire quality cannot tolerate marking and softer materials will not be damaged by plastic sheaves. Examples: fiber optic cable, RF (coaxial) wire, aluminum, and copper.
Small wire diameter or exact finish dimensions make the wire tension sensitive - therefore use lighter sheaves that are easier to rotate without increasing wire tension.

Timco offers sheaves

Made of cast polyamide or UHMW-PE
Black, white, blue or yellow
Single-groove or multi-groove, round groove or flat groove, including interlocking grooves
Standard sizes or any special sizes up to 61" diameter
Machined to very smooth groove finish for lowest friction
Customized, at no extra charge, to the exact cable size you are running for best groove and wire life with less cable breaks
With or without bearings mounted
With single row or double row sealed ball bearings secured by snap rings or with bushing. Other bearings available as required.
