The use of plastics in the design of utility equipment continues to increase. The reasons for this increase is due the the fact that plastic components are:

light weight
non-corroding
non-conducting
non-moisture absorbing

The use of lightweight materials on mobile equipment is important. One can pack only a limited load of structure, manlift or crane, and tools onto a standard light truck chassis. The weight of engineered plastics is approximately one-seventh the weight of steel!

After years of exploring the possibilities for plastic parts in utility equipment, below is a list of what Timco has designed and or currently supplies:

Sheaves and pulleys of cast polyamide (PA6G)
Slide pads for telescopic booms of PA6G + oil or UHMW-PE for light loads
Guide pads for extension cylinders of UHMW-PE
Rollers made of PA6G
Plastic bushings are used for insulation
Hose clamps and cable guides of PA6G & UHMW-PE
The pad in the boom cradle is either POM or UHMW-PE or PA6G
The bearing shells for the rotating boom base may be of UHMW-PE
Cribbing plates are of UHMW-PE for easy handling
Boom angle pointers are of PA6G
